RecruitAI: How Neptune simplifies hiring and cuts manual work
Overview
-
RecruitAI is the AI and automation layer inside Neptune ATS, made up of JobsAI, TalentAI and Workflow Agents.
-
JobsAI creates jobs and handles applications, TalentAI finds and ranks candidates, and Workflow Agents trigger the actions in between.
-
43% of organisations now use AI in HR, up from 26% a year earlier, and recruiting is the leading use case (SHRM).
-
Recruiters keep the decisions. The system removes the repetition around them.
Most recruitment teams are not short of applications. They are short of hours. Every open role brings a job ad to write, CVs to sort, interviews to schedule and a hiring manager to chase for feedback, and very little of that work needs a person to do it.
That is the gap RecruitAI closes. It is the AI and automation layer inside Neptune ATS, and it does three things: creates and handles jobs, finds and ranks candidates, and triggers the actions between the two. This post covers each one, what it takes off a recruiter's desk, and where the human still decides.
The shift is already under way
The market has moved from pilots to daily use. SHRM's 2025 Talent Trends survey of 2,040 HR professionals found that 43% of organisations now use AI in HR tasks, up from 26% in 2024. Recruiting leads the way: 66% use AI to generate job descriptions and 44% use it to screen CVs. Among those using it in recruiting, 89% say it saves time or improves efficiency.
The gap between early and late adopters is widening. Bullhorn's GRID 2026 Industry Trends Report, based on nearly 2,300 recruitment professionals, found that top-performing firms are four times as likely to be using AI, and 55% saw KPIs improve by more than 25% from AI screening alone. Only 10% have AI embedded across their whole workflow, which is exactly where the remaining upside sits.
JobsAI: from brief to live advert in minutes
JobsAI automates job creation and application handling. A recruiter generates a job description from templates or previous roles, publishes it to job boards, the careers site and WhatsApp in a single step, and lets incoming applications be screened, sorted and tracked automatically.
Fifteen requisitions a week stops being a copy-and-paste exercise. Adverts stay consistent across teams, applications land in the right stage without manual triage, and the recruiter starts every search with a clean, structured listing.
TalentAI: the shortlist, already ranked
TalentAI finds and ranks best-fit candidates. It reads your existing database and live pipeline, scores people on skills, qualifications and experience, and surfaces strong matches from previous campaigns before you post the role.
It also summarises candidate data into plain insights, so a recruiter reviews a ranked shortlist rather than a stack of CVs. For teams that hire repeatedly for similar roles, this turns the talent database into the first sourcing channel instead of the last.
Workflow Agents: the actions in between
Workflow Agents trigger actions across job posts, candidate status, communications and approvals. A status change sends the candidate update. A completed shortlist prompts the hiring manager. Approval chains run without anyone chasing them, and bulk personalised email or SMS goes out on schedule.
Automated flagging highlights anything that needs a human eye, so critical details are not lost in the volume. The full list of what can be automated is on our recruitment workflow automation page. It also fixes the thing candidates complain about most: Bullhorn's research found the second biggest benefit of AI, from the candidate's side, is simply getting a response every time they apply.
Where people stay in charge
None of this makes decisions on its own. TalentAI's ranking is a recommendation, and the recruiter makes the call. Every action is logged, which matters under POPIA and Employment Equity reporting. RecruitAI removes repetition, not judgment.
